Our weekly adventure took place at The Colour Spectrum: An Inclusive Children’s Art Studio. Where children of all ages and abilities can come and explore, and really get messy and have a good time.
Kids get the opportunity to play with a variety of sensory themed tables, find hidden treasures in the sandbox and best of all you can paint on everything and anything!
Laura the Owner’s, biggest inspiration to open Edmonton’s first children’s inclusive are studio was her oldest daughter.
Sensory play encourages learning through exploration, curiosity, problem solving and creativity. It helps build nerve connections in the brain and encourages the development of language and motor skills.
PREPARING FOR YOUR SESSION
- Bring a change of clothes, your littles will get messy… very messy
- I would recommended bringing indoor sandals/crocs for yourself and child. They do provide clean socks to change into, but I personally hate the the feeling of things stuck to the bottom of my feet.
- All paint is washable, they provide parents and kids with aprons.
Let’s be honest sometimes kids attention only lasts for a few minutes and the dauting task to spend more time cleaning up then them actually doing the activity, is just not ideal. Which is why we loved our and leaving the mess behind!
